[Non-sponsored] How i did my eyelash extension for $25 w/High Brow

Hi guys, it's been a while since i last stepped into this space! To be honest, work has been okay but i had just been procrastinating about blogging 'cause my brain is that lazy (I feel so weird about Blogger interface now because the last i logged in, its months ago)!

Anyway, today i would be blogging about a popular beauty trend - Eyelash extension! I got hooked onto this earlier this year because it's been a breeze whenever i need to snuggle in more sleep in the morning before work.

It has also made my Perth trip (which i really need to blog about) so much easier because i just slap on my basics and i'm ready to go, especially when the 'meet-up time' is like 7am in the morning. Note that this is not a sponsored post at all and i paid like everyone else for the mentioned below!

Eyelash extension @ High Brow (Star Vista)

My first experience with them was awesome, and subsequently i introduced to my mum, who also went and got hooked. If you are a first-time customer with them, this is how you can enjoy their cirrus (eyelash w/eyeliner effect) for less than $25, technically $21+ to be exact.

This was how my lashes look like the first time i did the extension with them - no eyeliner, just double eyelid sticker.

I think this had eyeliner on, but it's around 2-3 weeks after the first treatment?

I went back to them again prior to my Perth trip (i paid the full price) and did them. This is approximately a week or so after the first? I had eyeliner on but minimal.

I've done extensions from a few vendors, but i think High Brow has my heart. But the thing is, they are rather pricey for recurring customers, so it's been a struggle between vanity and wallet.

But for first-time customers, this is what you can do to enjoy your first pair of eyelash extension with them for less than S$25!

Step 1: Sign up for an account with Shopback.com

I was introduced to this website from an ex colleague and it's been my to-go-to ever since. Basically, you go to the place you want to shop at via their portal (so like machiam they referred you there, but actually is not lah) and they reward you with cashback % for your purchases! Something like credit cards i supposed?

This is my account with them, and i had already cashed out $40 during my first batch. The bonus is from my ex colleague who referred me to the website.

Shopback has 8% cashback with Groupon, but they take a while to go from "Pending" to "Redeemable" so yeah. But hey, at least that's accounts receivables!

Step 2: Check out promo codes with Groupon

There's always promotional code with Groupon, sometimes i wonder if that's their USP (which i believe is since they leverage on loss aversion aka kiasu mentality with consumers). I downloaded and subscribed to them so i always receive the latest updates/notifications from this app.

I think they usually have 25% off for beauty, but there was once a 35% during National Day or something last year (cannot remember). I got this from their website just only, and i think its going to be around for a while?

Next, purchase the promo with High Brow via Shopback.com, and be redirected to Groupon.com. Be very careful with this, and remember that this has to be within the same browser (so don't click to open a new tab).

The Korean lash is $38, so after Groupon's 25% discount, it will be $28.50. After 8% cashback from Shopback, that would be $26.22. Plus the referral $5, that would be $21.22, which is technically $21!

WHERE TO FIND?

Bear in mind that this does not include your credit card own cashback, especially if you have a card that gives you great discounts on online shopping!

This is purely from a paying customer's point of view, so feel free to go ahead based on your own judgement and research online. I have never tried their other extension (so far, i only did Cirrus and i love it the best).

For me, the eyelash usually last for around 1.5 months, but i think it depends on individual's lifestyle habits and such. Nevertheless, i think this is a great vendor to check out, especially if you have not tried their services!

I know that it can be a pain to spend so much $ on something so intangible and not exactly necessary, so here's to all the girls out there who are up for some cheap thrills.

Good luck! :D

Whats your hair personality - Discover with Giovanni collection today

Sponsored post

Have you ever wondered what your hair personality would be? I know that it's good to stick with a brand once you know it works for you, but i always love to try out new products because you never know what gems you would discover in the market these days.

When Sample Store contacted me to write up a blog review for Giovanna - i'm thrilled because i'm always up to receive free products (oh cheapskate me), and new things to play around with. When you have a boyfriend who loves his hair more than his life, you tend to place more emphasis on your own hair too.

With the huge hoo-ha in the industry these days about how bloggers tend to praise and write the good things about anything just so to be paid, you can't blame me for taking a long time to churn this review out since i wanted to try and make sure the products were really good.

--------------
2chic Ultra Moist Shampoo for dry and damaged hair

This was the first range that i tried because i had been using my heat curler every morning and i felt that my hair were becoming crispy and brittle. According the the website, this range helps to:

Conquer dry, damaged hair
- Replenish hair that feels dull, lifeless and brittle
- Deep-conditions for deep luster
- Leaves hair smooth & supple
- Silkens hair with softness & shine
- Nourishes with Vitamins & Omega Fatty Acids
- Helps prevent splits & breaks

It didn't really help much to be honest, and my hair was still pretty dry and damaged. I am not too sure if its because i didn't use the product correctly because i don't really fancy long shower, so usually i just slap some shampoo on my palm and weave it through my hair.

Nevertheless, not really impressed so yeap.

--------------
2chic Ultra-volume Shampoo

Some of the benefits as per mentioned on the website for this range includes:

- Builds body without adding weight
- Plumps & thickens every strand
- Softens & detangles
- Prevents dulling build-up
- Makes hair shiny & bouncy

My expectations went down a little following the first range, reckoning that at the end of the day, it's going to be another 'shampoo' in the mass market. However, started using this for a month and i really like the results of this range! My hair definitely felt softer and much easier to handle, but perhaps the use of argan oil also helped to expedite the showing results.

Would recommend this to friend - not joking about the thumbs up on these bottles.

--------------
2chic Ultra-sleek Shampoo

The next on my list because i see argan oil. I heard from Sijun that it's a really good ingredient to have and that it works, like when you see products with this, you know its good.

Some of the benefits mentioned include:

- Transport your senses as you lather in softness, manageability and glossy radiance
- Smooth every strand With Brazilian Phyto-Keratin and Moroccan Argan Oil
- Seduce with shine Banish frizz
- Discover ultra-sleek vibrancy
- Safe for color treated hair

I usually avoid sleek formula because it makes my hair extra oily, but i am pretty keen to see how this goes. Sometimes i feel that i put my hair under extreme challenges by testing their limits, and if they could talk, they must be hating me haha!

--------------
Smooth as silk deep moisture

I dont have the chance to try this yet but it's very tempting knowing that there's a thumbs up on the shampoo bottle. Some of the benefits mentioned on the website include:

- Pearlized formula glistens in your hand and transforms hair into a silky palette.
- Lather and glow while prepping for your best style.
- Luxurious lather soothes dry, chemically processed hair
- Cleanses gently for manageable smoothness
- Calms unruly hair to alleviate frizz Increases shine while smoothing dry or damaged hair

Would definitely give it a go once i used up the others! :D

With this, i end this blog post. Ultimately, i feel that the brand offers a range of products which suit different hair type and it's important to find a type of shampoo/conditioner which works for your hair personality.

Ever since i started working, i dont have the time to doll up so hair become one of the more vital accessory for me since it can either make or break my look for that day. I try to minimize damage for my hair but yeah, you know the morning rush with girls. Glad that there are products like these to save us and give our tresses their well-deserved nutrients everyday!

--------------
Giovanni wide range of hair products are suitable for any hair types and needs If you are interested to give them a go, head down to Watsons, Guardian, major Cold Storage, John Little, BHG and Sasa.

If you are busy like me and has no time, just go to their E-store Maimee's Corner at www.maimeescorner.com

Prices ranges from $14.90 - $15.90 , and you can find out more on their website at
http://www.giovannicosmetics.sg/

With that, good luck with your tresses ladies! :D

My experience with Xenical

Before i start writing, i would like to say that i do not promote or encourage the consumption of Xenical. You should always consider the consequences or consult a doctor should you require further advice. I am simply sharing my experience with Xenical pills as an individual.

" Xenical (orlistat) blocks some of the fat that you eat, keeping it from being absorbed by your body. Xenical is used to aid in weight loss, or to help reduce the risk of regaining weight already lost. This medicine must be used together with a reduced-calorie diet. Xenical is for use only in adults "
(source: http://www.drugs.com/xenical.html)

There are other information on that website itself so scoot over if you want to find out more.

Yeah, so basically i hit an all-time low along the August mark when i felt humongous and overall, low self-confidence in myself. There were a lot of other issues going on then and as i have probably blogged about it lots of time, i have a very serious obsession and outlook on my body size and how i look.

Onwards here, this is not a blog post trying to fish for sympathy or to promote popping pills for dieting, but only purely for the sake of sharing my experience ok. Got it?
Awesome.

I had been eating the pills for about a month now, and good news - there's no major side effects on my end. Granted, i wanted to go for duromine but its a highly controlled drug over in SG so unless i have a doctor's prescription, i am unable to get my hands on them.

===============

Dosage wise, i pop a pill before i eat 30 mins a huge meal, or either that, i pop a pill after my meal. I usually does that for buffet, korean buffet or oily food (like fried chicken lol)

I had minimized the dosage to only when i feel its necessary aka the above meal situation, and leave it out when i am having normal meals like home cooked food.

Side effects wise, i realized that (a bit paiseh to say) but when you fart, you fart the oil out as well. So it leaves a stain on your undergarments (clothes even), especially when you are sitting down. I did not meet with this issue during my first few pills. It became a gradual thing and only more obvious recently.

At the same time, you will have to hold a concert during your restroom time. In fact, it will come out in such a fashionable manner that you will poop in tune with the 'flushing' sound (oh yes). Your poop will also be extremely oily and messy, and at times, the oil might leave a mark on the inside of the toilet bowl.

Results wise, not extremely amazing, but it did help me to stay stagnant at my normal range. I did not experience major weight loss (on days when i eat very little due to busy workload, my weight goes down by 1kg). But on days whereby i eat pretty much, my weight fluctuate but not that much as opposed to when i do not consume the pill.

The reason why i decided to post this is because despite the whole "exercise to get fit" notion, i understand that some people just want to seek other options, whatever their reasons might be. Same thing, the information available over the net isnt much and most of them comes from forum which u either need to sign up to comment, or are dead threads which doesn't talk about the issue anymore.

I bought my pills over the borders (city plaza) for approx RM2.5 a pill. It's an accredited pharmacy so yes, i am not really eating used plastic with grated cheese.

Recently, a relative of mine got diagnosed with failing kidney and it made me re-think about my options with eating pills. I am reducing the consumption of the pills to a minimal, but its a choice so i will appreciate if you respect my decision.

Update 25th Oct: I had decided to stop eating Xenical because i kept farting oil out and its horrible! The oil is yellowish so if it stains, its omg gross. So yeah, first month was fine (no idea why) but it slowly got worst. Proceed with caution!

==============

At the same time, if you are curious about duromine (which has a much crazier side effect and meant for really obese people aka clinically certified), just google. SJ was pretty upset about my decision to start on Xenical, and he forbid me to even think about duromine because its a very intense medical procedure.

But all in all, all the best and always remember that whilst its good to search for a better self physically, remember to think about health and love yourself.

Till then,
xoxo

NON SPONSORED - 100% customer's POV review on bottomslim

I think I had been spending a lot these days. I just cut my hair last night at Pro Trim for $38 (most expensive haircut in my life) and just (like literally just) signed up for a package with Bottomslim for 11 sessions.
So yeah, good job Jane.

I heard super many stories (bad and good) with this company and despite the fact that I have had my fair share of stories from relatives on slimming centers, I can't help but wanna /try/ it out?

I guess I will take this time to exercise and eat less

& i think I will share my experience on Dayre/blog and criticize/evaluate this slimming centre. There's super many theories revolving this place and at the same time, bloggers who endorsed this place and mentioned how great it is.

The award from cozycot makes things much more legit too, or so it seems.

One of the most raised concern is over the pricing - which I checked and managed to argue from $1300+ to $680. Amazing right lol. Like China all over again.

Two treatment component -

1. Machines pasted around your affected areas ; Vibration to detox apparently.

Impression: 6/10 .
- not too impressed because even though she mentioned that it's low infrared heat and I won't feel anything, I do feel vibration and nothing else. And osim seems to have a similar product which I've seen my parents using, though like no use lol.

2. Gel over my tummy (main concern) and use a lamp with red infrared lights shining over the area

Impression: 8/10
- really do feel heat and my tummy area is still feeling the hot even though I'm otw home now. I'm thinking of combining this with abs exercises to see more effect. Apparently I'm told that this will last for 6-8 hours and is for breaking down my tummy fats.

============
Service wise, a little pushy. Seems that the more reluctant (and yet tempted to sign), the more discounts you will get. The price was changed 3-4 times throughout the entire session.

Ultimately, I agreed on $680 with a $340 deposit and subsequently paying for the remaining half after the 5-6th session.

I'm promised 11 sessions in total, so that's less than $68 per session. It's still a considerably huge amount but I wanted to try slimming places (at least once in my life?) and this place happened to offer me a price which I deemed "ok" within my income range.

PLEASE CHECK:

- Receipt (what's included and shit)
- GST included? (I nego to $680nett)

I read some reviews that the customer service person will just take your card, swipe and charge you full. Most of them were credit cards dispute (extra charges from bank blah, GST blah) but I paid with NETS so no such issues for me.
I did say that I wanna pay with Visa and she asked if I can pay with NETS though. I guess quick games are the rules here?

VERDICT AFTER 1ST SESSION?

My skirt do feel looser and the hem doesn't fold in anymore. But granted, I skipped dinner and only had half a cup of cereal and soya milk prior to the treatment.

But the heat is still there and tbh it's reassuring to know that the gel is (hopefully) working its magic.

So Yeap, will be posting more after each session so that more people can be informed and make a smart choice before signing packages!!

I only managed to find bad reviews and good ones (95% sponsored posts) so seriously, I was kinda thinking like "shit did I just spend $340 on nothing?" , but then again - I gotta try before I know if it really works.

Some dubious parts though:

- she mentioned the word "guaranteed loss of 6-16cm" after whole treatment at starting, but backed out after I 80% seems willing to buy the package

- used freebies as bait for me

- dismiss -ve online reviews quite strongly

To be honest, I'm still a little apprehensive about whether it was money well spent. $680 is like 80% of my intern pay, and its not gonna be cute if I get nothing outta it after everything. (time, effort, mostly $$$$)

Heck, even spending on a good meal is better than splurging on an "experience"?

But yeah part of me is going like
"wellllll, at least you can use it as experience learnt?", but another part is like

"You stupid bitch Jane".

Idk ok don't scold me. SJ didn't scold me.

He told me that he would do the same and pay if he is promised awesome hair for $300 too. Oops.

Guess we are star crossed lovers when it comes to spending on things that think matter but actually doesn't matter lol.

Ok so Yupp! I will move this entire post to my blog after the whole treatment is done but as of now, fingers crossed and double effort at exercising and dieting to magnify the effects!

==================================================================
Hey guys, so the above was written after my first visit with Bottomslim, which was also the first treatment i went for immediately after my consultation.
I hate to say this, because I PAID FOR IT, but nope - bottomslim doesnt work.

Before you go "TOLD YOU THERE'S NO SHORTCUT", please remember that every girl has a main problem - face, weight, body whatever, there's something which she cares about the most. & for girls who cares a lot about their body size (i can vouch for them), somewhere somehow, you will find logic in every irrational methods and way. I'm not saying that Bottomslim is a scam company because perhaps there are people who really benefited from it, but it didn't for me. Granted, i only attend 3 sessions with them but decided to forgo sacrificing my Sunday since i can only "go on Sunday as i'm paying lower than others, and hence only eligible for the off peak sessions"

I'm just skeptical about the whole thing --

Basically there will be 2 steps to this basic program which i signed up for.

(1) Placing some vibrating devices around your body to break down fats whatsnot
(2) Applying fat burning gel on your targeted part and placing a light over it

It just .. doesnt convince me that this is worth $340 for 5 sessions. I can jolly well spend that on facial which i really see effect from after each/3rd session at least?

& the big question

DID YOU SLIM DOWN?

Nope, i didnt. In fact, my weight went up and fluctuate quite a lot.
So yeah, but disclaimer please
This is based on my personal opinion and not a 100% reflection of bottomslim services. Tbh, the service there is amazing, but its just the treatment. Maybe it will start showing results after the 6th or 8th session, but the devices and procedure just doesn't convince me enough to fork out the other half of the treatment fees.

I decided to write this post not because i want to sham Bottomslim etc, but because i couldnt find any decent reviews on Bottomslim from a very neutral POV. Its mostly 80% sponsored posts, and the remaining 20% were from people who had bad experience with this slimming company.

So yeah, i hope this will provide an insight to people who are thinking of taking up promotional offers from slimming companies (more than often, just a promotional hook to make you sign packages).

Thanks for reading, and share your successful slimming stories with me!! :D

SJ's birthday over at Republic of Singapore Yacht Club (RSYC)

Hihi! I'm going to finish this blog post up by 10:15pm and prepare to head off to bed - YES, that's how early i'm sleeping these days. I slept at 10.30pm last night and woke up at 8am this morning - still feeling sluggish when i woke up, but definitely felt much more energized as compared to Monday. Monday was horrible.

This time next week i would already be over at KL and checking into a really nice apartment with SJ, Junli and Marc! I don't really crave a beach getaway because i'm not a beach person, but its a much needed breather from the thoughts i've been implanting into myself lately. Not too sure i would like to share them here, but yeap!

So, i booked Republic of Singapore Yacht Club for SJ's birthday, thinking that it's really cool since there would be sea view and such, and also the pictures on agoda looks super lovely.

Who wouldn't be sold right?!

HAHAHAH but turns out, it's not exactly a hotel-hotel, but more of like a clubhouse kinda thing? I emailed them beforehand though to ask if they were able to "decorate" (what was i thinking) the room up because "my fiance and me are celebrating our anniversary" HA, i know lah, i lied. They didn't do up the room as requested, but they did place a bottle of complimentary wine for us. Quite sweet right! I totally didn't expect anything in return from them since we are only staying for a night, but <3

SEE, THIS IS WHAT I CALL "LONG HAUL BENEFITS"
You give your guests a small gift and they help you advertise, like now.

The bottle of free wine hahaha

Lunch over at Buona Vista
===========================================
Went over to lunch over at BV because the club is located around 3 - 4km away from Star Vista. Headed over to Goemon and ate my fave squid ink spag <3

He ordered some soapy ramen which tastes pretty bland so yeah, heads up guys.

Reached RSYC
===========================================
Nobody here yet, so jiu start taking pictures lo. The room is situated such that its next to the pool and it was so, so hot that day that the sunlight shone right in through the curtains. I know, very exaggerating but sadly, #truth.

Natural sunlight liao hahahaha

Do you see me trying to werkz that model's vibe? Slightly open mouth, intense look, messy hair.
Idk what the models are thinking when they do such a pose with so many backend crew looking at them.

Wow such a cheeky looking picture.
Wow i look like an idiot

Ok so basically i just camwhored a lot.

& then SJ's friends came and interrupted my camwhore session.
HAHA, ok lah i not so vain ok wtf

The guys/girls came and we started chatting about
- NS life
- CAREER
- MARRIAGE

omg like wtf? The leap of topics from 3 years ago to now is too huge to comprehend. But honestly, i guess when you start to grow older, the spectrum of topics changes as well.

#Noob (see below)

Hahah then below the pictures i very lazy to elaborate liao lah so you just scroll through, then can click and close already.

On RSYC

I think its a pretty nice place (albeit small) for gatherings because we were quite loud but nobody came to knock on our rooms (UNLIKE STUDIO M), but the location can be a little far out/deserted for those who don't drive.

Not grand looking so if you are looking to celebrate your birthdays in style, you might wish to look at other boutique hotels. Overall, a pretty decent clubhouse with average service and kind gesture (free bottle of wine) and scenic view - please only head out in the evening because the sun can be mean

Its around $130 on agoda.com, so if it suits your palate, why not? Plus, you have access to 'The Wharf' which has some killer reviews online, but little, because its only accessible to guests/members.

Such exclusivity,,,

Ok i finished this at 10:28pm, so i need to go off now.

Date Ideas 101: Tott - Bake & Go

Hi guys! Today's gonna be about a new place which i found out recently, and its called Tott - Bake & go! The place is actually a concept store which you can do your grocery shopping, attend cooking classes, eat at the bistro and also shop for housewares products.

It's really cool and it's this whole 1-in-all place for people who loves cooking and baking!
(But it's quite expensive to shop there lah so yupp!)

Got to know about this place through my sister's classmate's aunt - HAHA I KNOW LIKE SUPER LONG, but yeah! Basically Tott has a station whereby you can "Bake & Go" which really just mean that you pay for around $14 to make your own cookies/cupcakes (all inclusive of dough and whatsnot!)

I think its a good idea for peeps who doesn't have oven at home, as well as all the equipments but you wanna try your hands on baking some cookies. It's actually a good date idea if you think about it since it's cheap and probably bonds you and your partner closer through this interactive activity!

So let's get cranking!

One thing which i really love about the workspace is that it's super user-friendly and it's very colorful! Like very cheerful you know?! HAHA, so when yall there you just naturally feel very happy and woah hoo.

The workspace which we would be working on our cookies and cupcakes. You can choose either cookies or cupcakes for your session but its the same price either or. It's just that the lady told us that cookies would taste nicer but cupcakes are catered more for kids because they can decorate it with the icing and frost so it's kinda more fun for them?

The toppings avl for cupcakes! Its FOC by the way.

You would have to pay for additional add-ons if you wanna, but i think its still good to stick with choco chips only because the taste would be better!

SJ and i got cookies and he had Choco while i chose Vanilla. The dough is already wrapped inside the tin nice nice so when you open it you just have to mix it with the choco chips and start moulding it.

I brought my cousins along for this session as well so it's kinda not a "date activity" for me but more of like a "family activity" for me LOL! But its definitely fun to bring kids along because they would be so excited that you get excited yourself as well.

SO CUTE RIGHT? HAHA, they even have little aprons for you to wear!
So cute, the feel very there! hahahahaha

SJ doing some spider-man thing hahaha.
Disclaimer : He totally can't bake. But the cookies still turns out quite nice lah :)

Bentley and me! Tott is really kids-friendly because they even have these 'steps' so that the kids are tall enough to work on their cookies/cupcakes.

&&&& we are ready to start on our projects!

Sooooo, i was the slowest amongst all of them because my dough KEPT BREAKING.
Its really hard to make nice cookie shapes when you have a bad case of being 'nimble'.

YOU GET WHAT I MEAN.
#BROKENHEART

PUN INTENDED
YOU STUPID DOUGH.

The cupcakes making session side //

SJ being super serious with his cookies and i'm just here,,

taking random selfies of him. HAHAHA

OK THEY CONTINUE TO LAUGH AT MY AMAZING ARTWORK

SJ and his final products before it's sent to the oven

I wanted to build a gingerbreadman but it turns out to be super hard for my fat fingers to mould that shape out so i just decided to mould a snowman ... who's fat LOL

OUR COOKIES ON A CLOSER LOOK
IM SORRY MINE LOOK SIBEH UGLY HAHAHAHA

SIJUN ONE LOOKS LIKE DROPPINGS
LOL IM SORRY HAHAHAHA

Sending the cookies into the oven! We were told by the lady to come back at around 30 minutes later so we took the chance to walk around and rested at the Bistro because we went out the entire day beforehand and we were super tired.

Dragged SJ to take a shot for me with the logo, and the apron because i think its super cute hahah! Next time i also wanna buy one cute apron and bake cakes for my kids LOL.
#BakerJane

On a totally random side note, i hate my gummy smile.

Over at the Bistro and lepaking and waiting for our cookies/cupcakes to be ready! So just take selfies lor, i mean also nothing to do mah. Yeah, very girl of me i know. No choice lah.

& the cookies/cupcakes are ready! The kids are super excited as well because they kept asking about it.

OUR COOKIES DENGDENGDENG

IM SORRY MY SNOWMAN LOOKS REALLY FAT

the cupcakes looks good right?! HAHAHA

& the cookies were ready to be eaten! Because we took a longer time to mould and shape it but the cupcakes would still need to be decorated after its out from the oven.

So it really explains why i'm the slowest and everyone is waiting for me ok. LOL

ITS VERY NICE OK.

I THINK IM QUITE TALENTED LOL, /bhb max hahahaha

The kids decorating their cupcakes diligently.

Rounded off the day with a picture of everyone and their cookies/cupcakes! Super happy to actually found this place and went through with the plan. Though it was meant to be a date activity, it's a pleasant to have my two cousins with me along because they definitely made things brighter and better.

*Thou i suspect that the lady whom they referred to as 'Aunty' was pretty upset about the 'Aunty' status LOL.

So that would be all for the Tott - Bake & Go session! I would recommend people who are interested to go over to

1. Make a phone call for reservation because it's on a walk-in basis and they have events held over at the area sometimes.

2. POSB and DBS cards are currently having a 10% discount so thats $51 for 4 pax, you do the maths.

Leaving the contact details of the store here, and i hope you would have as much fun as i did as well! :)
