Bangkok - Shopping Edition

Back with the second installment on the shopping edition over at Bangkok! Not really sure if anyone read these travelogues but ohwells, i'm just going to write for memory sake i guess.

I went to numerous places during my 5 days trip and i really love the night market culture Bangkok has all over its streets!

1. Victory Monument
Easily my favorite place to shop over at Bangkok. It has loads of stalls (the picture below was taken from the BTS hence it seems like its really little) and the best thing?

ITS SO MUCH CHEAPER.

I bought this high waist skirt for only 120 - 150 baht when i saw these pieces selling for 300 baht over at other place. The quality is really good too, and i kinda regretted not buying another color along as well

The have loads of clothes going at 100 - 200 baht, and i also bought two pairs of sneakers (which i recently saw being sold on certain blogshops) for 120 baht! But apparently i saw the same pieces for 100 baht, but alas.

Some of the images which i grabbed from the internet
This place doesn't have loads of tourists so i'm assuming its somewhere which is frequent by locals instead of foreigners? I hopped over to the area at around 7 pm and it was bustling with activities already!

Nearest BTS: Victory Monument
Opening hours: 6pm - late

2. Platinum Wholesale Market
Not new to peeps who research before heading over to Bangkok for shopping. The Platinum wholesale market is where stall owners wake up real early to get clothes for their stalls (mostly over at Platinum Mall).

I went over at 5am and there were already quite some people shopping around at that area. But to be honest, the designs weren't really to my liking. I find myself looking all over the place because i was really hoping to find a good buy, but :(

Nevertheless, i bought high waist skirts as well as some basic dresses for around 100 - 150 baht. I would say that the prices are pretty cheap in comparison to places like Platinum Mall, but the designs are definitely much more limited.

3. Platinum Morning Market (no need wake up so early)
You know how the streets over at the Platinum Wantan Mee, beside Amari Watergate Hotel? They have these stalls which sells lots of clothes? I am not too sure about the opening hours, but boy, the have some good stuffs.

It's just like Bugis Street, but with vendors walking around to attend to your hunger and thirst, and cheaper clothes. It can get a little squeezy though so be careful of your personal belonging and so on.

4. Siam Square (Soi Streets)
I was so upset that i did not discovered this place earlier during my trip! By the time i know about this place, it was already my last day and it closes at 8pm!!

They have these really cool boutique stores around and its actually all pretty affordable! I bought 3 pieces of dresses (think blogshop quality) for 200 baht each, which was a good $8 only.

SUPER NICE STORE SELLING SUPER NICE MANGO SMOOTHIE.
MUST TRY!

SJ went MAD here. He loves this place so so much. I regretted not having enough time to explore around because of the short opening hours, but i'm definitely visiting this place the next time i'm back at Bangkok again!

5. Terminal 21
Not much pictures over at this place, but they have Mr Jones Orphanage cafe so that's a bonus! The things they sell over here at much pricey but the quality is good. It also has many interesting architecture for the OOTD lovers and photos goers to check out.

All in all, the prices are about the same as the neighborhood shopping malls over in SG, or maybe even pricier depending on the items you are purchasing.

Places which i wouldn't recommend / heard that it's not good

1. Platinum Mall - overpriced stuffs
2. MBK - overpriced and flooded with tourists
3. Union Mall - heard its not nice at all

I guess that's all for the shopping places you can check out if you are over at BKK!
Thanks for reading and have a lovely weekend!

Bangkok - Beberry Beauty Nails Spa

You know when someone says Bangkok! & girls would go

SHOPPING
NAILS
CHEAP MASSAGE
EYELASH EXTENSION

Oh yeah, you got it. I am one of those girls alright, lol

Ok so basically, when i went to Bangkok, i had in my mind to do up my nails with the theme
'Alice in wonderland' because i am a huge huge fan of that series.

I downloaded Pinterest to have a vague idea of what i wanted, so here's some of my 'inspirations' from the application and you can check out the rest here as well! :)

Sooo, are you ready for my design? :)

Absolutely love for this set of nails done by my manucurist! She took a whole of 2 hours to finish everything but she handpainted each nail and she even re-did 'Alice' because she didn't like it.

HELLO, IN SINGAPORE YOU WOULDN'T FIND SOMEONE LIKE THAT PLEASE LOL

The best part? It was only 1100 baht (S$44).

Gel - 500 baht
Design - 500 baht
Removal of gel nails - 100 baht

Do you know that if this set of nails were to be done in SG, it would cost at least $80 and above, even if its done at Lily Nails, which is the cheapest nail salon i managed to find in SG? That's how expensive nail art can get over here at SG.

My picture probably didn't do justice to the entire set of nails, but its really amazingly done.
I don't love it, i adore it.
Even SJ (a guy) was pleasantly surprised by the exquisiteness of each nail!

I read about this place from this blogger over here so if you want to know more about the environment and the nail polishes which they use, you can read it from there!

I lifted some pictures from their facebook just so that this post would't end up looking too 'empty' lol

Their chairs are massage chairs LOL so you can have your massage whilst people fuss over your nails like a queen/king.

They also provide waxing services, as well as eyelash extension (of which my friend, Karen did for a promotional price of 700 baht during their december promotion) and it's so so delicate-looking and pretty. In fact, i feel that they did it better than Take care beauty salon, which i went to because it was very much raved by other SG bloggers. & i did it for 1500 baht sia LOL

I mean 1500 is still cheap, but i really think that its not as good as my friend's :(

Karen (far left) with her eyelash extension.
Super chio right?!

& this is mine. I think its not very obvious even though i told her that i wanted it to be dolly-like :(
Maybe she don't understand what i'm saying LOL.

P.S/ I did mine at another place, not over at Beberry

I highly recommend this place to anyone who's looking for nail art, waxing or eyelash extension services because their service and skill is <3

I have no idea why everyone goes to MBK and Siam XXX for nails when it is so overpriced?! I mean, those places had long been converted into a tourist spot so people would had expect that the prices would be jack up along with its reputation.

Bad point only being that it's pretty far off from Platinum area so hailing a taxi there is a pain. We took a taxi from Thong Lo the first time round after brunch so i would recommend you to go there from someone other than Platinum because nobody wants to go there at all.

SO MUCH ANGST.

Address of the place

  • SOI YOTHIN PHATTANA
  • Bangkok, Thailand 10240

Bangkok - Cafes Edition feat. After you, Mr Jones, Roast Coffee and Vanilla Brassiere

As promised, a blog entry on where to eat over - cafes edition over at Bangkok :) I figured that many people tend to do travelogues on their blog and goes with accordance to the places they headed to in a timeline format.

During the trip, it can be quite a hassle to read through every single thing (though it was interesting to read other people's experiences in Bangkok), esp when i have to wake up early the next morning.

So i decided to do entries based on genre, as mentioned in my previous entry and only do a full write up for places which i feel are really worth going to and introducing to tourists.

So here goes!

Looking all excited to explore Bangkok on the first day of our trip! We booked Amari Watergate Hotel by the way and it's my second time staying with them. I really love their services because all their staff are trained in English and they are always helpful and smiley! :)

Cafes

1. After You Cafe (Siam Paragon)

It was extremely crowded for a Monday night and we waited for around 15 minutes for our turn. We also took a while to locate the store because apparently they don't have unit number for their stores :/

Lucky 17!

Over at After you cafe, it runs by a self-service system so you have to buy and pay for your food items before you are served.

We ordered their cafe latte and ice milk tea (i'm an extremely milktea-person) which were
lovely.

Ordered their Shibuya Honey Toast as well and you know, its really worth the rave. I'm someone who hates to go by mainstream items and trends (though i would succumb to some at times), but THIS is worth the constant raves and appearances on many bloggers' blogs and instagram!

Rating: 4/5
Siam Paragon, Ground Floor
Nearest BTS: Siam Station
Food recommendations: Shibuya Honey Toast & Ice Milk Tea

2. Roast Coffee and Eatery

This was another place which we are pretty hyped over because of the recommendations online and offline from friends. We took the BTS to the area and later on took a cab to the cafe.

SJ had their Vodka pasta (i cant rmb the full name - but it was a signature dish).
He thought it was ok-ok, so maybe a 3/5 for taste?

I ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict (390 baht) and Ice cafe latte (120 baht)
I love the Eggs benedict - so good!

Generally, the place sparks of what a cafe need and should have - it's atmosphere.
You can really feel the clock ticking slower and the pace of life threading instead of the constant rush that we take on. It's a good place for a simple brunch or simply to lie back and relax with a book.

Rating: 4/5
251 Thong Lo 13 Alley, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
Nearest BTS: Thong Lo Station
Food recommendations: Salmon Eggs Benedict

3. Mr Jones Orphanage Cafe

I was definitely drawn to its array of designs and its selection of cakes. Mr Jones Orphanage Cafe revolves around a Teddy Bear theme and each branch is decorated with these furry cuties to liven up the entire atmosphere!

I would recommend that peeps who are heading to Roast Coffee to simply pop over next door to visit this dessert cafe after their meal. I went to the outlet over at Terminal 21 because i was there shopping but i think that the decorations over at Thong Lo is much nicer and exquisite!

Ordered their Kit Kat cake because it looks so cute?! , but it was a little too choco-ty to my liking. Or perhaps it was because i went with a heavy stomach so i wasn't able to enjoy the meal as much as i would like.

SJ ordered their English Breakfast which tasted amazing.

Rating: 3/5
Terminal 21, Topmost floor
Nearest BTS: Asok Station
Food recommendations: Their selection of tea

4. Vanilla Brassiere

A pure coincidence that we would pop into this cafe because we were hungry and wanted to have a quick bite around Siam Paragon.

We went in because of the architecture and design of the cafe - its akin to walking into another world. But the food wasn't that great to be honest :(

We ordered Vanilla Milk Tea (which tasted weird), English Breakfast Tea (ok-ok) and Salmon crepe (of which i think Marche's is nicer)

Had to play around with the camera because it was my last day in Bangkok then and i wanted to take as many pictures as possible.

Perhaps more of the boy haha. He's so cute sometimes with his goofy and omake looks.

& thats me, the sexy beast.

Rating: 2.5/5
Siam Paragon, Ground Level
Nearest BTS: Siam Station
Food recommendations: Perhaps some stuffs other than what we ordered? Lol

& that would be all for the cafes edition! Neverland Siberian is technically also a cafe but i've already wrote an entire blog post for that so i don't think i want to harp on that anymore.

In the meantime, i do hope that this cafe guide (albeit a tad too little cafes in them) helps people who are visiting BKK to have a vague idea on where and what to eat!

Bangkok - True Love Cafe (Husky Dog Cafe)

HELLO GUYS.

I'm finally back on this space after a week of holiday-ing (much needed!) over at Bangkok. This week had been absolutely lovely and even though i'm in BKK, there had been this
"The Big Gushcloud Expose"
going on all over the internet which really entertained me (in a sense) when i can't sleep at night.

OK, so back to Bangkok.

Bangkok was awesome and i loveeee that place so much (i became so much fatter fml) and everything is cheapcheap! (i super cheapskate so Platinum Mall was too expensive for me haha)

There are plenty and plenty of  posts and information about Bangkok going around the net so i'm not going to talk much about that but more on the places which aren't really talked about but i think are really, really good. Of course, i was super touristy and went to the recommended places such as 'Platinum Wholesale Market', 'After You cafe' and stuffs like that as well.

Would be dividing the entire trip into three main sections, mainly

- SHOPPING

- FOOD/CAFES/CLUB

- BEAUTY

I would be uploading them more over the week after i edit the pictures lah!

BUTTTTTTTT, I cant wait any longer &

I have to recommend this place to anyone who's a

1. Dogs lover
2. Plan to visit BKK any time sooner

Presenting to you (my favorite take-away from the entire trip)

TRUE LOVE CAFE / NEVERLAND SIBERIANS CAFE

I was researching on dogs cafe prior to the trip and stumbled on this - it's amazing. The cafe has a total of 17-24 Siberian Huskies (i cant rmb the exact number) and a Pom x Spitz (Momo!). I told SJ that i wanted to go, so we go lor! hahahahaha
He also like dogs a lot so he was pretty hype about it also lah.

We took the BTS because traffic in BKK is batshit crazy at bad days. I read about the cafe on this website , and the nearest station was Sanam Pao, but i think Ari station is nearer. We took a taxi to the place because its pretty far in (think fish farms concepts and all, but more towards landed property)

We paid around 50baht for it (with tips!) if i'm not wrong.
BTS was definitely under 50baht per person as well from Siam station > Sanam Pao station.

The wonderful sight that greeted us /lovestrucked
I'm still super happy that i decided to go ahead with this cafe, even now when i'm typing this!!

TIME-SLOTS
The cafe has 3 time slots per day for guests to get up close with the dogs, mainly

1.30 - 2.15
4.30 - 6.00
8.00 - 9.15

We didn't make any reservations and its a pretty small cafe so the seats were limited. We were super lucky to have gotten a seat, but i would highly recommend you to reserve seats if you are traveling with a large of people!

Be sure to reach around 15 mins earlier because there's a briefing by the cafe owner and introduction to the dogs and their individual characteristics and temperament, and you don't wanna miss that.

ENTRANCE FEE
The cafe do not collect entrance fee, but you have to (compulsory) get a set of either dessert, main or main+dessert per head.

SJ and I had lunch beforehand so we settled for the dessert set (290 baht).
It comes with a dessert of your choice and a drink
You can stay as long as you wish in the cafe upon ordering any of the three sets.

You can choose either ice cream or cake, but we went along with the latter.

SJ's was tiramisu and mine's oreo cheesecake! It comes with a drink as well and their milk tea is niceeeeeee

& the real fun begins!

It's so aww-inducing because all the dogs are super cute and fluffy! My fave dog (despite it being a Siberian Husky Cafe) is Momo!! She's super cute hehhe, i don't know why but i'm just super attracted to her like awww <333

I kept going to her and wanting to take selfies with her, perhaps too much to her annoyance LOL

& then she walk away!!
She dissed me :(

I was so sad lah, and i kept going like
"Momo come back right now!!"

and she totally IGNORE me :(
BAD MOMO.

But i managed to 'capture' her in the end with the help of the staff HAHA
There are three enclosures in the petting area because apparently the different 'gangs' are enemies?!

SUPER CUTE HAHA, OMG I CANNOT ----

But yeah, so if you want to enter/leave the enclosure, you have to inform the extremely friendly staff of the cafe and they would gladly help you with it! :)

Okay so back to the Huskies hehehe

Probably SJ's fave dog because it reminds him of Tigger haha!
This cutie pie is only 9 months, but extremely huge (though timid) but so cuteeeeee

These two huskies are like super pretteh?!?! Their fur damn nice omg
But for some reason we are unable to go into their enclosures :(
Very sad T^T

Hehe this Husky super cute! She/He started to play with 2 other huskies and the staff had to separate them because it was getting a little too heated up LOL! So playful lah!

SJ working his magic sleep-inducing fingers on these doggies

He probz likes our massage so he decided to grant us a selfie hehe

"Ok enough, humans"

"I SAID ENOUGH, HUMANS"

If the dogs can talk, i'm pretty sure they would tell me to go away :(

Ok this one super cute. SJ was rubbing his tummy and he loves it so much that when he removes his hand,,

he pushes it back again!!

SO KAWAII PLEASE <333333333333333333

& there's Momo trying to steal my heart again

The dogs were let out afterwards and all of them ran inside a house (for food or to rest perhaps) and it was chaoticcccc hahahah.

But nevertheless, all the dogs are really friendly and many of them are docile and well-behaved around humans. Ok maybe for this default-looking husky which bit me a little :(

IDK WHY. I GIVING HIM MASSAGE BUT HE DONT LIKE :(
It's a gentle bite though, so nothing to worry about it you are semi scared of dogs

Went to their toilet and took a selfie hahha.
#girls

Ended the day with a photo of the cafe and it's logo!
Took a tutu back to the train station for 40 baht!

Love this place a lot and i really recommend anyone who loves dogs to visit this place.
The dogs look so happy and healthy and most of the time, there are at least 3 staff around should you need any help.

The cafe is big on hygiene as well, and i really can feel the love and care the owner has for all these dogs despite it being commercialized as a dog cafe?

The petting time was such a great idea because the dogs all look ready to mingle hoho and active, in a sense, so most of the time you are entertained by them haha

But they quite lazy LOL! Keep lazing around
(Momo its ok, i won't judge you)

So that's all for this, and do leave a comment should you need help! I shall plaster this here

Have a great day ahead and i would be blogging about this nail salon
which is a definite gem in Bangkok
